As a follow-up to the "Life Before TV" series, which examined childhood in a time before television, the internet and electronic games, the walnut ink drawings portray children in other contexts. The themes of these drawings are influenced by daily newspaper articles on a wide variety of issues relating to problems children face in America today, such as: the influence of media, eating disorders, genetic engineering of food, gang violence, environmental toxins and the abuse and mistreatment which endanger children's health and happiness in today's world. The work is intended to provoke, pose questions or create feelings of anxiety about the impact of modern life on children.
