The work of Karen Moss is driven by ideas rather than by a single recognizable style. Each exhibition or project focuses on a specific concept and the materials are selected accordingly. Her ideas are inspired by a multitude of influences from her travels and flea market finds as well as research and reading in the areas of: natural sciences, history, exploration, social issues and current events. The range of her work covers exhibitions inspired by the diaries kept by Charles Darwin on his voyage to the Galapagos, in which she embedded text, maps, drawings and plant material in handmade paper, to a more recent project where she constructed 11' tall facsimiles of trees from six hundred shredded consumer catalogues.
